National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project- Phase II, Component C:

  • National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) is a World Bank assisted flagship programme being implemented by NDMA in 8 cyclone prone coastal states.
  • The Component C comprises of Technical Assistance for Capacity Building on Disaster Risk Management in five identified sectors namely Health, Education, RD, PRI and ULB.
  • The objective of the project is to reduce vulnerability to cyclone and other hydro-meteorological hazards of coastal communities in Project States and to increase the capacity of State entities to effectively plan for and respond to disasters.
  • The scope was further enhanced to all Hazards covering all districts of the identified states.

Training

The Center for Disaster Management took several training initiatives in the past years:

  • The Disaster Management capsule is included in all foundation training conducted at YASHADA.
  • Medical First Responder training is conducted for Government Medical Officers.
  • Incident Response training is conducted for District and Municipal Corporation officers.
  • School Safety training - development of School Disaster Management Plans for 180 schools in Nandurbar district.
  • Community-Based Disaster Management training - development of Village Disaster Management Plans for 923 villages in Nandurbar District.
  • Training of stakeholders in five sectors, i.e., Police, Health, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and Urban Local Bodies under the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project.

  • Conducted DM training in colleges under Savitribai Phule University, Symbiosis, Bharati Vidyapeeth, and Marathwada University.

  • Training on IRS and Mass Gathering Event Management with NIDM.
  • Ruby Hospital and Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College, Sangli for BLS, BTLS, and ITLS programmes.
Conduct of Training under NCRMP
  • CDM, YASHADA has successfully conducted training in three sectors (118 trainings), i.e., Education, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj Institutions, at a total cost of approx. 1.57 Cr.
NIDM and YASHADA trainings
  • During the COVID restriction period, CDM proactively conducted 16 online capacity-building trainings on CBDM, IRS, hydro-meteorological disasters, and school safety. In addition, trainings on Mass Gathering Management and cross-cutting issues in DM were conducted as NIDM-sponsored trainings.
  • The center conducted trainings from the national to village level for all stakeholders in the past. The Center for Disaster Management is continuing with its training and consultation activities under the aegis of YASHADA.
