State Human Development Report
he Maharashtra Human Development Report 2012 analyzes human development while keeping in mind the principles of dynamic, sustainable, and inclusive growth, as emphasized in the Eleventh and Twelfth Five-Year Plans.
The first attempt to assess the state's human development was the Maharashtra Human Development Report 2002, which examined aspects such as growth, poverty, equality, education, health, and nutrition.
Since then, the state has made significant progress in human development indicators, including universal primary education and the expansion of healthcare facilities.
The 2012 report provides an analysis of the current status of human development in the state while also discussing inequalities in development, capacity building, progress in human development, existing gaps, and measures to enhance human development.
Following the principle of inclusivity, the report analyzes human development based on five aspects: gender, rural-urban divide, regional disparity, social groups, and income groups. The insights from this analysis help define human development objectives, establish evidence-based policy guidelines, and ensure that marginalized groups benefit from development initiatives.
