Vision and Mission:
Although approximately 71% of the Earth is covered by water, the vast majority more than 97% is present in the form of saltwater. Only 3% exists as freshwater, which is found in rivers, lakes, ice caps, and groundwater.
In recent times, challenges related to water and its associated problems have increased due to a growing population, rising pollution, water misuse, and climate change.
The state of Maharashtra also faces a unique “paradox of plenty and scarcity.” Some regions, such as Konkan and parts of Western Maharashtra, experience surplus water, while the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions continue to battle cyclical droughts.
In consideration of these factors, and in accordance with the Maharashtra State Water Resources Department’s Government Resolutions dated 30th November 2016 and 19th September 2018, the State’s Water Literacy Centre was established at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Pune.
Vision and Mission:
Vision:
The primary vision of our water literacy centre is to become a catalyst in water conservation activities and to play a role in participatory irrigation management with involvement of volunteers at various levels ensuring that every drop—from the monsoon rains to the deep aquifers—is managed with the precision and ultimately achieving water security so that future generations may inherit a world with sustainable and equitable access to stable and sufficient water resources.
Mission:
Because water belongs to everyone, its conservation is our shared responsibility. we believe water literacy is the foundational step towards a sustainable future. Our mission is to empower communities through education and structured intervention. We are committed to :
