Water Literacy Centre Workshop and Inauguration Programme – 6 August 2017.
To ensure effective governance and specialised training, Maharashtra State has decided to decentralize its water literacy initiatives and administrative efforts across various revenue divisions.
Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Pune, serves as the state’s primary water literacy centre. Besides this, it also acts as a divisional centre for Pune, Nashik, and Konkan divisions.
Other three regional water literacy centres operating in Maharashtra with their jurisdictions are given below:
1. Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Division.
2. Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Vidarbha Administrative and Development Training Academy, Amravati, for Amravati Division.
3. Chandrapur Forest Administration, Development and Management Academy, Chandrapur, for Nagpur Division.
These centres play a pivotal role in spearheading efforts in water education and water management by conducting research, spreading awareness, and building a trained volunteer network at various levels.
