COURSE ADVISORY
  • Greetings from Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration, Pune! Kindly go through this document carefully as it provides details regarding the joining formalities and guidelines to be followed during your stay.

CARRIVING AT THE ACADEMY
  • Pune is well-connected by Roadways, Railways and Airways. The trainees can opt for any of the modes of transport and further directions to reach the training campus are given below:
  • Location of the Academy: The Academy is situated on Baner Road in Pune City. It is 750 metres from University of Pune, next to Raj Bhavan on one side and Armament Colony on the other side.
  • Railway Travel: There are 3 railway stations in Pune to reach the Academy – Pune Railway Station, Shivaji Nagar Railway Station and Khadki railway station. 
  • Road Travel by Public Transport: There are two major Bus stations in Pune that have connectivity from all major cities in Maharashtra and other states – Shivaji Nagar & Swargate. One of the major private intercity bus stops is Sangamwadi.
  • Travel by Personal Vehicle: Trainees are encouraged to travel by public transport to the Academy instead of traveling in personal vehicles. Personal vehicle parking is not allowed in the campus. However, due to any unforeseen reasons if the trainee has to travel by personal vehicle, he/she should get in touch with the concerned Course Director.
  • Air Travel: Pune is well-connected with major airports in Maharashtra and other states. It may take 20 minutes to 1 hour to reach the Academy depending on the traffic from Pune International Airport at Lohegaon.
  • Local Transport: The Academy is well-connected with all the above-mentioned railway stations, bus stands and airports. You can take a taxi, local bus or rickshaw to reach the Academy from there. Pre-paid taxis and rickshaws are also available for travel within the city
CLIMATE
  • The city of Pune is located around the confluence of Mula and Mutha river at 560m above mean sea level (MSL).Pune has a hot semi-arid climate bordering with tropical wet and dry. Round the year the overall weather in Pune in pleasant. The details of the three seasons experienced in Pune are given below:  
  • Rainy Season (June to September): July is the wettest of the months in this season. The average temperature in Pune is about 22°- 28° C and rainfall is approximately about 722 mm, so carry your umbrella / raincoats with you.
  • Winter Season (October to January): In the winter season the average day time temperature is around 26° C whereas the temperatures at night can fall to 9° C, so · carry sweaters, shawl, muffler and cap.
  • Summer Season (February to May): The highest temperatures in the summer season are in May. The summer season temperature in Pune ranges from 24°- 43° C, so carry caps / umbrella with you and other precautionary items for protection from the sun. Kindly get appropriate clothing with you according to your personal requirements and with reference to the above-mentioned climate.
REGISTRATION
  • Online registration: You must register online using the link which is provided before the training by Course Team/Facilitator. This registration is compulsory that confirms your participation in the course. You are requested to join any group communication arrangement created by the Course Coordination Team for the duration of the course only.
  • Reporting at the Hostel: Kindly report to the respective hostel reception at YASHADA campus on your arrival. You will be allotted rooms after registration on the reception counter. Kindly provide your nomination or invitation letter and photo ID issued by Government (Anyone of - Aadhar Card/Driving License/ Pan Card etc.) at the reception. Government officer-trainees should provide the ID card issued by the concerned Government Department along with Sevarth ID.
ACCOMMODATION & MEAL ARRANGEMENTS
  • All courses that are of more than one-day duration, unless stated otherwise, are residential training programmes; hence all trainees are compulsorily required to stay in the accommodation allotted by the Academy during the entire course.
  • All the rooms have attached bathroom and most of them are air-conditioned. The rooms are provided with basic furniture and items which include bed, mattress, study table, wardrobe with necessary bedding and a Television Set with limited channels. You may carry other accessories like personal linen if you so desire. Rooms are allotted on double occupancy basis. No request for change of room would be entertained.
  • The accommodation on the campus is restricted to the trainees only. Family members, friends or any other acquaintances are not permitted to accompany or stay with officer- trainees anytime during the course. Further, visitors are strictly not to be entertained by the trainees in their rooms. • However, specially abled trainees may get in touch with the Course Team so that accommodation can be arranged on payment basis to caretakers accompanying them. • In order to focus on the training, while on the campus, the trainees are not encouraged to entertain visitors during the academic hours (09.00 am to 05.30 pm). The trainees can entertain visitors after the academic hours (05.30 pm to 09.00 pm).
  • Only in case of Foundation Course, towards the end of the training programme, a special day is dedicated for the family of the trainees to visit YASHADA Campus. That is the only day when the family of the trainees are allowed to visit the campus. The details and the dates of the 'Family Day' will be communicated by the Course Director to you in the first week of the Course. If accommodation is available on campus, it can be made available for the family members on payment basis.
  • Trainees are encouraged to keep their rooms clean and help the housekeeping staff to maintain cleanliness. Every morning before going to the classroom trainees should ensure that they submit their room keys at the reception to enable the housekeeping staff to clean the room.
  • Cooking in hostel room, using steamer, toaster etc or use of electric equipment not made available by Academy is not permitted. • Laundry services are available on payment basis. The clothes for washing or ironing are to be given at the reception desk from 08.30am - 09.30am. The rates for laundry services are available at the reception desk.
  • Food is served in the dining hall of the Mess only and it will not be served in the room of the trainees. Special arrangement for the meals can be made for temporarily ill trainees with the prior permission of Competent Authority. Trainees are expected to take necessary steps to avoid wastage of food. With the same intent, the trainees must inform the course team if they plan to skip the meal served on the campus. They should inform at least 12 hours prior to the meal.
  • Only the food served in the Mess during the dining timings are covered under the training budget. In case the trainees request for food items other than the menu of the day they will have to bear the charges for the same. The trainees are expected to pay the bill, for such additional food items ordered during their stay, 24 hours before they check out from the hostel.
REGULAR TIMINGS
  • In & Out Timings: During the course, after the training sessions are over, if the trainee has to leave the campus for any reason, they have to be back before 09.00 pm. The entry to the campus on the training days in no case will be allowed after 10.00 pm.
  • Dining Facilities: Dining facilities are provided to the trainees in the Mess designated for the course. The food will be served as per menu displayed on the Notice Board in the Dining Hall. Trainees must follow the dinning manners, etiquettes and respect the prescribed meal timings: ▪ Bed Tea: 06.00 am to 07.00 am · Breakfast: 08.00 am to 09.00 am Lunch: 01.40 pm to 02.30 pm Dinner: 08.00 pm to 09.30 pm. Trainees are requested to strictly follow the dining timings given above.
PHYSICAL FITNESS & SPORTS FACILITIES
  • Regular attendance for PT in the morning is compulsory for all the trainees. No exemption will be given to any trainee from PT, unless the trainee has severe medical problem. For that purpose, the trainee must produce medical history document related to the said problem and also provide medical Certificate of YASHADA Doctor. Along with PT classes, there are other facilities for physical fitness available to the trainees every morning from 6 am onwards. The timings for various fitness activities.

  • Sports Note: (i) For the equipments of Badminton & Table Tennis, contact hostel manager of DAC or reception of MDC. (ii) The location and timing of the above activities will be given by the concerned Course Director.
  • It is compulsory to wear tracksuits (dark colours) and T-shirts for all trainees during physical fitness activities like PT, Yoga, Gym etc. Trainees are requested to carry tracksuits, T-shirts, one pair of good quality jogging or running shoes for PT and other activities. For swimming, carry your swimsuits and required swimming gear (swimming cap, goggles etc) with you.
ON CAMPUS FACILITIES
  • Computer facilities: For use of trainees, YASHADA provides access to computer lab and has made desktops available in most of the residential rooms. Internet is available only with the installed hardware provided by the Academy. Trainees can carry their own laptops. They can be provided with subscription of Microsoft office 365 for the duration of their training on their individual laptops. The trainees should contact their CD regarding access to the subscription. CD will coordinate with the CIT for the same.
  • Library facilities: The Academy has a very good Library adjacent to the Computer Centre, with a large collection of 40 thousand books and 140 magazines on different topics. Trainees can avail the facility during the training period. Books can also be borrowed by taking membership of the library. If any specific reference book is required for the purpose of training, CD may be informed accordingly. CD in coordination with the library will take efforts to make the book available.The trainees who get books issued from the library during their stay are requested to return the books to the library by 02.00 pm on the last day of their training. The library is open from Monday to Friday, from 09.30 am to 06.00 pm and is closed on Saturdays & Sundays.
  • Medical Facilities: A consulting Doctor is available every day (except Sundays) at the Academy between 9.00 am to 01.00 pm and is available on call during post lunch session. The medical consultation with the Doctor on the campus is free of charge. However, the trainees will have to pay for the prescribed medicines or in case of hospitalization. In case you need medical assistance or attention, immediately get in touch with the concerned CD.
  • The Hostel Receptionist and concerned CD will provide support to the trainee regarding the purchase of medicines from medical stores in the vicinity. A first aid kit is available at the reception desk. Those trainees who are suffering from chronic illness should make it a point to provide the details of their chronic illness in a separate section given in the online registration form. In case of chronic illness kindly ensure that you carry with you the regular medicines prescribed by your doctor.
  • Daily needs: For items of daily and regular needs, shops are located close to the campus in 'Sakal Nagar' at a distance of 400 mts.
  • Publications: YASHADA has a dedicated Publication Centre and has published around 100 books and reports. Apart from books, a quarterly called ‘Yashmanthan' is also published by YASHADA and is available to subscribers. All these YASHADA publications are available at reception.
  • BANKING FACILITIES There is ATM facility located adjacent to the Main Gate of the Academy.
DISCIPLINE ON CAMPUS
  • At YASHADA, we expect a very high standard of discipline, moral values and physical fitness in addition to excellence in Academics. The trainees are expected to observe discipline, decency and decorum in behaviour during their entire stay at YASHADA.
  • Use of mobile phones: Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the academic area (Classrooms, Auditorium, Computer Lab etc.) Therefore, trainees should keep their mobile phones switched off or on flight mode during the training and should keep them at a place assigned for keeping mobile phones in the classroom.
  • Classroom attendance: 100% attendance in all classes and field visit activities prescribed by the academy is compulsory. Trainee who is absent without permission during these activities will be liable for disciplinary action.
  • Leave during training: Training in the Academy follows 6 days week. No leave shall be granted during the period of training at YASHADA. In case the trainee has to leave the campus during the training programme due to unavoidable reasons, written permission of the Course Director is essential. Taking leave during training will hamper the quality of the training for the trainee on leave.
  • Prohibited behaviour: Consumption of alcohol on campus or returning to campus after consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on. Chewing of tobacco, smoking, spitting on campus and other unacceptable behaviour as per MCSR by the trainees will incur strict action. Breach of any prescribed discipline would make the trainee liable for strict punishable action. YASHADA also reserves the right to discontinue the training and relieve the trainee during the training.
  • Dress Code during training: Proper decorum and dressing is an integral part of Training at YASHADA. Trainees are expected to be always in proper attire in classroom and campus. Trainees are advised to carry appropriate ceremonial, formal and informal clothing. Detailed instructions for long term training programmes are given in the R (Etiquette) booklet. All Trainees should be well-groomed and properly dressed while on the campus. Casual attire is not allowed during academic hours or in the Mess and Library. Track suit and pants are to be worn for fitness activities only. Attire like shorts, bermuda and slippers are not allowed anywhere on the campus except in the confines of the hostel room.
  • Cleanliness on Campus: It is our endeavour to keep the premises of YASHADA clean and provide appropriate environment of training to the trainees. Wastebins are provided at different locations in the Academy. Kindly make use of the wastebins on the campus and help the Academy to maintain a clean campus.
  • Garden on Campus: The Academy has green premises and several varieties of flora and fauna that adds to the beauty of the premises and makes it conducive for various training activities. The trainees are requested to use the garden areas with due care and abstain from plucking flowers, leaves, buds etc.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
  • Trainees are advised not to carry with them valuables like ornaments, large amount of cash etc. The Academy will not be responsible for loss of any valuables brought by the trainees.
  • Strictly follow all instructions and rules given by government for precautions regarding prevention of spread of epidemic or any communicable diseases during the training programme as and when applicable. Violation of any of the above instructions as well as instructions issued from time to time will invite disciplinary action.
