WDM Center
Mission
  • To ensure sustainable watershed development through training, research, policy advocacy, consultancy, transfer of innovative administrative and technological practices, fostering long-term community empowerment and environmental conservation.
Objectives
  • To collaborate with key government agencies, including the Soil and Water Conservation Department, the Agriculture Department, the Forest Department and Social Forestry, the Ground Water Survey and Development Agency (GSDA), the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, the Minor Irrigation Department, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
  • To promote community participation and foster a sense of ownership in watershed projects.
  • To build the capacity of stakeholders for effective project management. 
  • To ensure the sustainability of watershed development efforts through the implementation of monitoring frameworks.
  • To design and deliver impactful training programs tailored to the specific needs of stakeholders.
  • To conduct pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  • To engage in policy advocacy for reforms in rural and natural resource management.
  • To conduct competency mapping for stakeholders to identify and address existing skill gaps.
  • To lead research initiatives that explore innovative solutions for watershed management and publish the findings.
  • To document and disseminate best practices, success stories, and operational manuals.
  • TTo facilitate the transfer of administrative technologies aimed at enhancing governance efficiency.
  • To continuously evaluate programs for their effectiveness and ensure that targets are achieved through regular reviews and corrective measures.
  • o strengthen human resources by implementing skill development programs and research-based initiatives.
Target Groups
  • CWDM works with diverse stakeholders, including
  • Government Departments: Soil and Water Conservation, GSDA, Agriculture, Forest, Water Supply, and Minor Irrigation.
  • NGOs and Mother NGOs involved in watershed projects.
  • Local Governance Bodies: Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Village Development Committees (VDCs).
  • Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and User Groups (UGs).
  • Community leaders and rural beneficiaries.
Funds
  • Funded by government schemes, including: Training Funds under PMKSY WDC 2.0 Scheme (DoLR, MoRD, GoI)
  • EGS and MGNREGS training support
  • Engages with national and international agencies such as the NIRD and MoRD for funding action research and evaluations.
Infrastructure
  • Operates from YASHADA’s state-of-the-art facilities for training, workshops, and research.
  • Collaborative MoUs with institutions at multiple levels.
